Stock up on Xbox Live before the price increase Due Nov 1st

image

No doubt you heard there’s going to be a price increase for Xbox Live. The increase will take effect in less than a week. If you haven’t stocked up on 12 month Gold cards yet, what are you waiting for? Either way, there is still time. You can hoard as many as you want in a shoe box but only 3 years at a time can be stored on your Xbox Live profile.

If you haven’t taken advantage of the deal Microsoft was offering on your Xbox 360 consoles dashboard a few weeks/months back for $30 Xbox Live Gold, there still might be a chance to do so. If you sign into your profile on your console, look under Spotlight for any deals that might be offered. If nothing, some have been able to call Microsoft directly @ (800) 4MY-XBOX, and asked for a deal on Xbox Live. If they offer you a year for $40, decline it asking if they could do better. You just might score the $30 deal!

If none of the above worked or you just want to stock up on even more, a dedicated link will always be in the sidebar for the Best Xbox Live Gold Deals. Hit it up and stock up on as much Xbox Live Gold as you can afford before the price hike and never pay full price again.

Xbox 360 4GB Console for $150? Kmart says, ’Yes’

image

Kmart has the Xbox 360 4GB console for $199.99 thru Oct. 30th, while supplies last. With your purchase you get 50,000 Xtra points!?!? HAHA, it sounds like a lot of points. Really, it amounts to $50 that can be used toward imagea future purchase, making the Xbox 360 only $150 in total!

Not a bad deal if you want a gimped Xbox 360. If you do decide to pick one up at this price, you will eventually want to get a hard drive for it, that’s if you want to take full advantage of your new Xbox 360.

This offer looks to be an in-store only promotion, online is showing only 2000 Xtra points.

“The new Xbox 360. Here today, ready for tomorrow with a brand new, leaner machine in an all new black gloss finish. Wi-Fi is built-in for easier connection to the world of entertainment on Xbox LIVE, where HD movies and TV stream in an instant. It's ready for the controller-free experiences of Kinect - you don't just play the game, you are the game. With the huge hard drive you'll have plenty of space to store your favorite games and movies. Xbox 360 is more games, entertainment, and fun.”

’Xbox LIVE Free’ name changed from ‘Xbox Live Silver’ is not Fake

Xbox-Live-Free

Lot’s of changes happening this week and in the months ahead for Microsoft and the Xbox team. One surprising change that Graeme Boyd, Xbox Community Manager in Europe tweeted was, “Just been told that 'Xbox LIVE Silver Membership' will now officially be called 'Xbox LIVE Free Membership'. The times they are a-changin...”.

Followed up with, “There are no changes to the features of Xbox LIVE Free Membership. And Xbox LIVE Gold's name doesn't change.”

A few thought this was fake, so I decided to look into it. I booted up my Xbox 360 that has the 2010 Fall Dashboard Update Preview due out to the public early next month, logged into what used to be a Silver account (see pic above) and it now says, ‘Xbox LIVE Free’.

Not only on the console has Silver been removed but also on Xbox.com. It has been replaced with ‘ALL LIVE MEMBERS, Sign Up for Free’.

Xbox-dot-com-Live-Free

I had a friend check to see if his showed Xbox Live Silver or Free on his non-updated Xbox 360 and Silver accounts are still showing Silver. So you Silver account holders out there, you soon will have Xbox LIVE Free that makes no difference at all, except the name change.

If you’re not sure what’s included with an Xbox LIVE Silver Free membership, you get: FREE Game Demos, Access to HD Movies & TV Shows, Arcade Games, Game Add-Ons, Avatars & Avatar Fashion, and last but not least Voice & Text Chat  with Photo Sharing.
