Sony to do Xbox Live gaming?

image

You read that right! It has been confirmed by Michael Gillett of mymicrosoftlife.com that Sony Ericsson is working on at least one Windows Phone 7 device. This means Sony will soon be doing Xbox Live gaming. I wonder if Sony will add any of there exclusive PS3 arcade titles to the Xbox Live mobile? Or maybe Sony will just create a PSN app with all their arcade games accessible from either the PS3 or Windows Phone 7 allowing you to gain Trophies on the go. What do you think?

What games would you like to see on your Sony Ericsson Windows Phone 7 device from the PSN library?

Look for the 2010 Xbox LIVE Preview Program Today, for those Accepted

image

If you were accepted in the Fall 2010 Xbox Live Preview program that we mentioned last week, Major Nelson suggest that you turn on your Xbox 360 later today, for that said Preview will go live. Mark Whitten also sends a letter to all Xbox Live members, excited that tens of thousands will receive an advanced look at these new experiences through the Xbox LIVE Preview program. You can read the full letter here.

I'm most excited for the ESPN 3 addition, since I no longer have cable TV. Next would be that search will be added to Netflix. This should make finding what I want quicker and easier.

If you want a closer look at what is in store for the Fall 2010 Xbox Live Update, you can head over to Joystiq for an in-depth video tour of the Xbox 360 Fall 2010 Dashboard update or engadget for preview of what’s to come.

For those that didn’t get accepted in the preview program, you’ll have to wait just a little longer, this Fall for the 2010 Xbox Live update. I would think on or before November 4th when Kinect launches since the update UI is all about Kinect controlling it, Minority Report style.

Halo: Reach - 'Reach Racer' minigame Easter Egg found on Oni: Sword Base

image

I’m sure you’re not board of Halo: Reach just yet but if you want even more out of the already jam-packed Halo: Reach disc you posses, you will be interested in this Easter Egg that unlocks a cool little minigame of ‘Reach Racer’.

Achievement Hunter’s, Geoff, Jack, and Kerry show you how to activate this very cool new Easter Egg in Oni: Sword Base in the Halo Reach campaign. Hitting two invisible switches at the same time will activate this very cool two Warthog racing game.

Sign Up for the Xbox LIVE Update Preview Program is Available Now

Microsoft and the Xbox Team are doing an Xbox 360 System Update Preview program for the next release, and the opportunity to sign up is now available. The Preview Program will give you the chance to check out ESPN on Xbox LIVE, Zune music, Netflix search, the new Xbox LIVE dashboard, and new updates to Zune video and Family Settings on your Xbox 360*.  Much like they did last year, you’ll need to visit the Microsoft Connect site from this link and sign in with your Windows LIVE ID that is connected to your Xbox LIVE Gamertag.  Once you complete the survey that is presented to you, the Connect site will notify you immediately if you’ve been accepted.  A couple of points before you head off to register:

  • They’re looking for multiple thousands of participants, so your chances of making it in are good.
  • This is not for Kinect. You will not be receiving a Kinect sensor if you are chosen to participate.
  • This opportunity is open to all Xbox LIVE Members in regions where Xbox LIVE is available.
  • To avoid any problems, read the survey carefully and double check all the information your provide.
  • While both Xbox LIVE Gold and Silver members can sign up, Priority will be given to Gold members in the selection process.

And just like that, we’re in!

Halo: Reach - Reviewers Closing Comments

image

The Halo: Reach embargo lifted and with it came an overload of reviews to read. Most don’t have time to read them all but find the closing comments is all you basically need from the review. It gives you, in a nut shell, the feeling and passion the reviewer got from the game if any. Let’s find out how Halo: Reach left some of the reviews feeling.

IGN - Halo: Reach Review By Erik Brudvig
Go back to where it all began for the ultimate Halo experience.

“Halo: Reach is a fantastic package, with several core components that on their own can outclass many other games. The campaign is excellent, backed by solid storytelling and a powerful audio-visual experience. The competitive multiplayer is familiar, yet brand new with a lot more options and a faster pacing. And the cooperative Firefight arcade mode has finally met its potential. Whether you like playing with friends like me or you're more of a lone wolf, Halo: Reach has evolved to the point where it'll make everyone happy. It's a fitting end to Bungie's involvement with the franchise, one that both references the past and injects new life into a tried and true formula. Newcomers and Halo fans alike will find plenty to love in Halo: Reach. Even if you've grown tired of the Halo formula through the years, I'd still recommend this game to you. It's just that good.”

IGN UK - Halo: Reach UK Review By Martin Robinson
Finish the fight? It's only just begun.

“Nine years in and on its fifth and final pass Bungie has created the definitive Halo experience, in which refinement is matched by the gentle revolutions of its new features. Armor abilities lend spark to a campaign that already boasts some of the series' finest level design and most stirring set-pieces, and they help enliven a multiplayer set that's beyond generous. It's a parting gift from Bungie that should keep players entertained through to the next generation; and if any other console shooter can better it in that time it'll be one hell of a feat.”

Destructoid – Review: Halo: Reach By Hamza CTZ Aziz

“Halo: Reach is everything a Halo fan has ever dreamed for. All that was lacking from previous Halo games is here and then some. This is Bungie's love letter to their fans and they've definitely gone out with a bang.”

G4TV - Halo: Reach Review By Kevin Kelly

“Chances are that if you’ve ever played another Halo game, you’ll be picking this up at launch. However, that’s not to say that newcomers to the franchise shouldn’t consider it: this is your optimal jumping-on spot with a brand-new title that follow a new team. The events might lead up the first Halo game, but you don’t need to know that to enjoy yourself. There’s a solid story here, with multiple interesting characters.

You almost need to look at Halo: Reach as two games, with one being the campaign you can tackle solo, or with up to three friends, and the other game as the multiplayer experience that has been pumped up with plenty of new opportunities for death. Oh, and fun. If you own an Xbox 360 and want some serious enjoyment, this is a must-have title.”

1UP - Halo: Reach Review By Thierry Nguyen
For its sendoff to the series, Bungie has crafted perhaps the finest Halo title yet.

“Even excusing the minor flaws such as slight storytelling or framerate issues, is it safe to call Halo: Reach the best Halo game ever? It's way too early to declare as such -- this is the type of proclamation best saved for years of study and hindsight, rather than in the immediate glow of a fresh release. But after seeing the perfect last shot of the campaign (in fact, it's so spot-on, that Bungie community director Brian Jarrard confirms that, unlike previous titles, there's no additional cinematic or end-scene for finishing on Legendary difficulty -- everyone sees the same last scene), and playing round after round of multiplayer, I can say that while I admire and respect every previous Halo title, Reach is the Halo that I absolutely love.”

------------------------------------------------------

It looks like Halo: Reach has everything and more we can ask for and should be an unbelievable game that not only true Halo fans will enjoy many years but even newcomers. All I can say from that is, the midnight launch can’t come soon enough!

Congrats and Thank you Bungie for the <3 letter!!!

Halo Reach Legendary Edition back in stock, Limited and Bundle still Sold Out [UPDATE]

image

If you really like giving your money to GameStop and were disappointed that the Legendary Edition was sold out, have no fear, the red Sold Out ribbon has dropped and pre-ordering is a go. That is until they sell out again.

I personally would rather give my money to Amazon if you’re going to be ordering online. Amazon usually has the best deals, no Tax to most and more times than not, free shipping. They also now have $0.99 release day shipping that only Amazon Prime members got for free.

Either way, if one of the Limited Editions is what you’re eyeing, then you best order NOW before they’re all sold out, again.

UPDATE: LOL, that was quick! All Sold Out again.

Halo Reach Tops Amazons ‘Bestsellers in Video Games’ X 4

image

From the looks of it, Halo: Reach is making its move to be the hugest game this gen for the Xbox 360. Every edition of Halo: Reach has taking the top spots, #1, 2 & 3, on Amazons ‘Bestsellers in Video Games’ list. Not only that, even the Xbox 360 250GB Halo Reach Console Bundle is trailing in at number 4.

This is very impressive and almost hard to believe, in this economy, that gamers are dropping big bucks for the Limited and Legendary Editions of Halo Reach, so much so that GameStop, Dell and possible others are sold out of them. And GameStop is even sold out of the Xbox 360 Halo Bundle. Crazy!

Not sure how close Amazon is to selling out of the Limited Editions but if you want to Jump in with the rest of them, you might as well go BIG! But Hurry!

A New Version of Halo Waypoint is Now Available [UPDATE: Servers Back Online]

image

I guess the night before when the servers were down, they didn’t quite have everything ready since later that day, there wasn’t much new to the service. Kind of surprising with the start of the Halo: Reach launch festivities yesterday. Well tonight is a different story. Don’t have Halo Waypoint installed yet? You can queue it up to download to your Xbox 360 from the Marketplace or search for it in the gaming section on your Xbox 360 console.

There’s not much to see at the moment since the service will be unavailable until 5 AM PST as stated by a HaloWaypoint tweet, “NOTICE: Halo Waypoint on Xbox LIVE will be unavailable from 12:00AM-5:00AM (Pacific) tonight.”, but the little you do see has a more Halo: Reach feel to it.

We’ll update more on what’s new in the AM, once the servers are back online.

Update: 8 AM PST and Waypoint is still down.

Update 2: 11:35 AM PST – Waypoint Servers Back Online: New look, Related Articles, new Career Milestone cap (60), Career Compare, Reach armor, more.

The Halo: Reach launch festivities are going on all week til Halo: Reach drops on September 14th. Planed for this weeks festivities, on September 11 - Day 3, a video, "Deliver Hope - Director's Cut" will be released.

What we didn’t expect was the Extended cut of the Halo: Reach Live Action short, “Deliver Hope” that debuted two weeks ago. Watch it now, it’s pretty Epic!

The Extended cut of the Halo: Reach Live Action short, “Deliver Hope” will be available starting tomorrow on Halo.Xbox.com, Halo Waypoint and www.bungie.net.

Press Release

Sometimes in the face of unfathomable odds, the only way to accomplish a mission is to pay the ultimate price. This two minute and 15 second extended cut of the “Halo: Reach” live action film “Deliver Hope” is a dramatic depiction of the sacrifice paid by Noble Team. It’s a more in-depth look into the type of courage and heroism required of all soldiers during the battle of Reach, and includes footage not seen in the original 60 second version of the film.

“Deliver Hope” is the dramatic capstone to the series of live-action ads from acclaimed director Noam Murro (“Smart People”), who also directed the “Halo: Reach” “Birth of a Spartan” short and a collection of live-action vignettes housed at RememberReach.com.

“Deliver Hope” features an original musical score written and produced by Human, with Brian Emerich (“The Wrestler”) as sound designer. The short was edited by Angus Wall (“The Social Network”), and was filmed on location in Prague. Halo: Reach Legendary and Limited Editions are Sold Out at GameStop [UPDATE]

image

If you thought you could wait to pre-order the Legendary or Limited Edition of Halo: Reach, you’re wrong, even the Xbox 360 Halo: Reach Bundle is SOLD OUT at GameStop.com.

This time around, unlike the Halo 3 Legendary and Limited Edition that can still be found, the Halo: Reach Legendary and Limited Editions are truly LIMITED! This doesn’t mean they’re Sold Out everywhere yet, Amazon is showing they still have plenty available along with other retailers, but I wouldn’t wait to much longer if you really want one of the truly Limited or Legendary Editions of Halo: Reach.

From the looks of the Bestsellers in Video Games list on Amazon, Halo: Reach Limited Editions might sell out quickly as well since they’re dominating the list with 4 Halo: Reach items in the Top 12. Halo: Reach Standard Edition is in the #1 spot, followed by Halo: Reach Limited Edition in the #4 spot, Halo: Reach Legendary Edition in the #5image spot and rising, and last but not least, Xbox 360 250GB Halo: Reach Console Bundle in the #12image[12] spot and rising.

Looks like Microsoft has another AAA winner on there hands!

UPDATE: Looks like Dell.com is Temporarily Out of Stock as well for the Halo: Reach Legendary and Limited Editions.
